~And the Winner is...~

Firstly, THANK YOU to everyone who played along and I am so happy to have a few new recipes to add to my little collection :)

I love the variation in the recipes too! Lindy and Tanya, you both have me HOOKED! Do you happen to have the recipes handy? You must send them my way!!!!

Asmaa and Theresa...Those deserts look seriously yummy! I just happen to have a bbq this weekend and I'll be making the dessert, so thank you for the fab ideas! :)

Carol - I loooooove twice-baked potatoes..funny I don't have them in a recipe book of any sort yet! Thanks for the awesome link!

I also must say...Michelle...I completely understand family heritage recipes! Most of the treats my grandmother used to make were much the same...sooooo high in sugar...but so yummy! I can't wait to give these a try!

I randomly drew a name from the awesome comments, and the winner is.....

MELISSA!!!!

Thank you SO much for sending the recipe my way, Melissa! It sounds like it will be a family staple from here on in!

Please send me an email with your mailing address so that I can get your pack out to you right away.

Wishing you all a beautiful day

p.s. Lori - Chocolate pie IS hard! Well at least when it comes to holding yourself back from eating all the ingredients before the pie is even made! lol

~Homemade Recipes & A Giveaway!~

I've been itching to alter this lovely little journal I found...The problem? I don't really need another journal...And I've had a burning desire for a new recipe book...One that was a more artistic/exciting version of what I currently have...Yet I couldn't find one that made me smile...There was only one way to go forth...

What do you think? It may not be the most practical recipe book...In fact, it's probably not one that will step foot inside my kitchen...Can you imagine tomato sauce on this lil' treasure?

So even though it's not going to get used on a daily basis, it's a perfect way for me to store my recpies in a more artistic and expressive way...As a keepsake of sorts :) to be passed down...
I have so many recipes that have been bethroned down from family members...I figure they deserve to be treated like the gems they are...

{Besides, I have a copy of all the recipes I use daily in a more functional (and seriously boring & plain) binder...}

So this is the perfect opprotunity (and excuse) to get creative!

I wanted the book to be shabby since I will be pasting original recipes (handwritten by my great grandmother) into the book. Most of the papers have developed an antiuqe-ness to them and would look awfully strange in a more modern book...And the fact that I love all things shabby, has had absolutely NO influence on the look whatsoever....lol
I think you all know me better than that :)

So I started with this little darling journal and it was an awful shade of blue, so after seven coats of gesso and paint, lots of distressing, and some texturizing...I finally achieved the look I was after...Then I added some sweet toppings and handmade trinkets in one of my fave color combinations (peach, cream, taupe, white)....So yummy!

I used a beautiful new Sparkler by Webster's Pages and dipped it in chunky, vintage glitter...Just below the peach sparkler is a rose sparkler from the same Webster's Pages collection (painted white and glittered)...

This is where i got to have some fun with my new stash of fabrics and yummy Spellbinders dies...
I diecut 2 tag shapes from the Grommet Tags die set by Spellbinders out of white and peach fabric, followed by the same die-cut shapes out of adhesive-backed foam...I simply exposed the sticky side of the foam and glued down the matching fabric tag...I love doing this for three reasons:

1. It's super easy and there is NO mess involved since the adhesive is already there for you,
2. It helps to stop the fabric from fraying at the edges, and
3. It gives your beautiful little fabric shapes more stability and some fun dimension :)

I added in a handmade heart button which I attached using lovely, rustic twine and I accented the center of the heart with rhinestone link from an old necklace found during my last flea market adventure...

NOW FOR THE FUN PART!

Do you want to create your very own recipe book? Or perhaps a few shabby cards? If you like the materials I've used to create this little project...Here's your chance to win them!

I've assembled a little kit of homemade goodies and treasured findings...

Just leave a comment below sharing one of your fave recipes with me! Or if you can find a link to your fave recipe online, you can share that with me too! I plan to create a section in my new book entitled 'recipes from the kitchen of...' and I'm asking that all my friends share their fave recipes with me :)

I will be randomly drawing a winner from all the comments left here on Wednesday at 12 p.m. Central Time. That will give you a couple of days to join in! I'll be posting the winner Wednesday afternoon so be sure to check back!

Hope you'll play along and I can't wait to add your recipe to my lil book!

~Beautiful Afternoon~

I almost gave up last night after sorting through scrappy stuff for hours...I was so close to calling it quits...Sooooo glad I pulled through...The scrappy sale was sooo worth all the work! Seeing the gals was just what I needed and it was definitely worth the countless hours of cleaning/organizing/preparing...(not to mention that my scrappy room is now clean organized to perfection!)

I thought the sale would be such a great way to catch up with the gals...So maybe I didn't get a chance to talk to each and every one of you as much as I wish I could have(I'm so sorry!) but I did feel so blessed by your company and that you made the time to stop by for a lil' visit and some scrappy shoppin' :)

Thank you to every one of you who came (or who whished you could have made it)...It was so great to see you all :)

For the friends that couldn't be here (Dara Lynn - I SO wish you could have stopped by for a visit) here are a few pics of our beautiful afternoon....

In addition to a pile of scrappy supplies that I was trying to scale down on, I also created some custom buttons for a dear friend, and created an entire rainbow of pretty button packs to sell....

I know many of you had asked about my buttons...and I HAD planned to list these on Etsy, but ya'll know how plans go...Or in this case...They don't...

So for the time being, if anyone is interested in some of these, just send me an email and I will happilly create custom colors/designs for ya!
They are $6/pack and can be ordered in any color and feature a combination of rhinestone, pearl and rose centers...which of course is all optional...
I also have individual pack pics - if you wanna see them up close and personal :)

I was also selling some of my hand-made cards {sniffle sniffle } and created these little tags for the baggies I was giving out with the card purchases...

I used Spellbinders Labels #4 dies to create the tag itself and Spellbinders Grommet Tags dies for the other bits....I embellished the tags with a few pre-made hearts, and viola! Perfectly sweet baggie toppings!

I wrapped up the sale and just when I thought things couldn't get any better...
I heard a buzz on my door and realized it was the postman!....With an exciting package in tow...

I can't show ya the contents just yet...But I can say that Webster's Pages definitely has something BEAUTIFUL up their sleeve!!! Check back here to find out more info in the next few days....

Then, a dear friend stopped by and we ended up doing a little scrappy shopping of our own at Michael's and I found these!

Can you say YUMMO?!

Now I'm going to finish off the perfect afternoon with a perfect night of crafting...Just as soon as I package up all the scrappy product left over, that is.

I wish every day could be like today :)

~A lil' Home Decor~

Hey friends :) Just a quick post today...I'm getting ready to have my
scrappy sale tomorrow
(if you live in Saskatoon and are interested in coming, send me an email and I'll give ya all the info!)....and my 'to do' list is getting longer and longer...sorting, pricing, packaging, cleaning....ahhh if only there were more hours in a day!

Anywho, I thought I would take a break from all the sale madness and share this lil project with y'all....

~Home is Where the Heart is~

It's the newest addtion to my scrappy room, and it was inspired by my shabby, vintage, oh-so-yummy bedding in my little creative room...

I used a lovely mixture of lace, punched paper, vintage buttons (from my MIL - Thank you, Linda :) , annnnnnnddddd this is the first project created with my Big Shot!!! I used the beautiful Spellbinders Grommet Tags Dies, and the coordinating Craft's Meow stamps (designed by Nina B.), Timeless Tags...Check out the tags and stamps and how they look so heavenly together...Love!

The wooden flourish was given to me by my sweet friend...(thank you Vicky!) which I covered with Distress Crackle Paint for an old, worn look... I stamped some angel wings onto a transparency sheet and outlined the image using Liquid Pearls...Once dry, I topped the wings off with a vintage button and some paper string...Yummo!

Here is a close-up of the stamp I used from the Timeless Tags set. I first cut the die shape from the Spellbinders Grommet Tags dies, and then I stamped the image using a soft taupe ink. I cut the sides a bit short, and I added a dash line to resemble stitching...

Don't ya just love layers upon layers of soft colors, hearts, glitter, buttons and paper...What more could a girl ask for?

I used Maya Road chipboard Hearts and Wings, which I painted in a creamy white. I distressed the edges by sanding, and added shimmery glitter to the pretty wings. Under the hearts, I cut another shape from the Spellbinders Grommet Tags dies, and then stamped the coordinating image from the Timeless Tags stamp ont my newly-cut shape...It never gets old...I just LOVE how quickly and easily I can whip things up with my new dies....

Coordinating dies+stamps = happy Ivana :)

Hope you all enjoy this lovely June day...It's raining here...I guess it's as good a day as any to be stuck inside sorting through scrappy goodies :)
I'll be back to show ya more projects once things calm down a bit around here...

*Ivana*
